Mindfulness of Thoughts

Mindfulness of Thoughts is a (DBT) skill, in which we mindfully observe our thoughts without attaching judgment or additional meaning ~ we don’t attempt to suppress or change them. We simply observe. Some use the “cloud metaphor” ~ watch your thoughts float by ~ like clouds. ☁️
As you may consider practicing this skill, keep in mind that your thoughts are different from your beliefs and who you are as a person. We may have some pretty bizarre thoughts ~ and that’s okay ~ and they’re just that ~ thoughts. We can’t control the first thought that comes to our minds, but we do get to control our behavior and how we move forward.
