I am passionate about empowering others to live authentically and wholeheartedly.

Emily M. Nelson (she/her)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

I have been practicing as a professional clinical social worker in North Carolina since September of 2018. My approach is primarily grounded within the humanistic framework; and is very direct, while also being warm, validating, and compassionate. I recognize each person as being the expert on them self, and honor the innate strengths, dignity, and worth of each person. I believe “normalcy” is a complete myth – it does not exist.
I actively listen with the intention of fully understanding. I hold the mentality that all people are doing the best they can to function in this big, scary world with the resources and skills they have available to them. I believe there is a function to all behavior, and I work to understand that function rather than placing judgment or blame. It is my intention to create an atmosphere in which people feel fully safe to be entirely them self.
I am an empath, a highly sensitive person (HSP), an open-minded, accepting, kind, nurturing, life-long learner. I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you, your teen, or family to authentically build hope and to expand your capacity to manage the chaos of life.
